STARLIT BOMA DINING EXPERIENCE

royal kruger lodge

The traditional African starlit Boma is nestled within the surrounding bush, merely footsteps away from the lodge.

Breathing flames, the Boma reflects memories of the ancient world of African folk and their way of life. Boma, meaning Kraal in Swahili, formed an enclosure, usually made from latte sticks, for camps and fortified villages during the 18th and 19th century when tribal wars and colonial conquests were common. Savour a four course dinner beside an ancient Mulberry tree, prepared on the open fires and enjoyed beneath open starlit skies.  This African sky theme is a sensory experience, a delight for all the senses – an enchanting dinner that is perfectly accentuated by the lively sound of local drumming as guests enter old ancient African world.

The boma, surrounded by ancient bush beyond, is the ideal setting for relaxing and toasting to a sumptuous experience.  Every detail is carefully planned to create an authentic African ambience, from the atmospheric torch candles, to elephant skulls mysteriously lit beneath them. Thrilling lion roars echoing from the Lionspurit Reserve within walking distance, are sometimes heard during Boma Dinners. Buck, warthog and zebra frequently cross the torch lit path leading to the boma.

Safari Cuisine at Royal Kruger Lodge is more than just a meal - it is an experience, a sheer indulgence and an African cultural experience. Your chef believes in cooking for friends and delights in personally introducing each meal.  Menus are hearty, scrumptious and deliciously different.  All special dietary requirements may be catered for on request.  The freshest ingredients and unique flavours blend in a traditional South African way.

During private celebrations, our signature Full Moon Banquet and Conferences, the rhythmic movements of Swazi dancers may be enjoyed in the boma and memories recorded to cherish forever.
